Rhinoplasty is a medical term used for nose surgery that can be done in need and out of will. Some people require to undergo nose surgery due to injury, bone deformation, breathing problems, nausea or under any other medical condition. But some people also opt for rhinoplasty to improve the shape and size of the nose or to cure some natural distortion to enhance the facial appearance.

There are various types of nose job surgeries according to your need. Nose surgery can correct any deformation, bone distortion, any hump on the nose, modifying the bridge of your nose, reshaping it and even repairing it after the injury. You can increase or decrease the size of your nose along with its shape to make it proportionate to the face and enhance the overall looks.

Nose surgery does not have any side effects as such but It may lead to swelling, bleeding, infection, itchiness, discomfort which might persist for a short period of time. They can be cured by medicines and some extra care that you have to take for at least a month.

Revision surgery is for correction of the deformities caused by the previous surgery and making it look better to meet the expectations of the client. If the surgery is done by an expert, then the chances are very less likely that you need a revision surgery for the nose.

It varies from person to person, the type of surgery that you went through and how much care you are taking with it. In addition to this, the average recovery time of a person from the surgery is 3 weeks to 2 months.

You might be directed to stop taking certain drugs, to not apply anything on your face before the surgery, to not smoke before a few days and other instructions as recommended by your surgeon.

It depends on various factors like what type of nose surgery you are undergoing or how much time it will take to carry out the whole procedure. It also varies according to the area you are in and the surgeon who is going to perform the surgery.

If you have suffered a major injury or some serious problem with your breathing activities and other complications then your insurance might also cover the cost of nose surgery.

There are no scars visible on the surface in a closed surgery whereas in open rhinoplasty, there might be scars on the base of the nose that are generally not visible.

It might influence breathing in the beginning due to the swelling under the nose but it is temporary. As your nose recovers, all the problems associated with it, including the breathing ones will heal with it. If you are facing some major issues in breathing or in some other activities then you should immediately consult your doctor for relief.

Your nose will be vulnerable after the surgery but after it fully recovers, it will regain its strength and it will function the same way as it was before the surgery.

You can ask about whatever doubts you have regarding the surgery. You can explain what expectation you have from the surgery and what kind of nose, its shape and size that you want and then the doctor will tell you about the most suitable procedure that can be performed. You can discuss the pricing, the details of the procedure, the precautions that you should take and about the recovery time also.

You should have a balanced and nutritious food before the surgery as you will get quite weak after the surgery. So you will have the energy to sustain the whole procedure.

You must not eat hard and solid food after the surgery. It is preferable to eat semi-solid or liquid food which is easy to swallow and does not require much of chewing. It is recommended that one should refrain from smoking and taking alcohol till you recover and prefer soft food.

Absolutely not, one should avoid exercise and heavy physical activities for at least 2 weeks. You can start mild exercises only after your doctor allows it.

You can continue with your work after a few days of your surgery. You just need to take care of it so that it does not get any strain. You will still have your bandage on till you recover so if you are comfortable going to the office with it, you can surely continue with the work.

Surgeons advise that patients must wait for at least a year before they can undergo a revision nose surgery so that the nose tissues mature to the fullest so they can get ready for another surgery.

In open rhinoplasty, the surgeons make an incision and open the nostrils and then perform the surgery outside the columella. This one is easier to perform because all the parts are clearly visible to the surgeon openly.

But in closed rhinoplasty, the incision is carried out from inside through the novels to prevent scarring on the outer skin and it is very difficult to perform.

One must undergo surgery only after the facial features are fully developed. Generally, one can undergo rhinoplasty after the age of 14 or 15 but you must discuss with the surgeon first regarding all the medical complications.
